Arsenal eyes Osimhen in a player-plus-cash deal with Napoli to boost their striking options.

Gunners Eyeing January Move as Mikel Arteta Seeks Prolific Goalscorer to Bolster Title Aspirations

In the wake of Arsenal’s joint-top standing in the Premier League following a 1-0 victory over Manchester City, reports from Italy suggest that the Gunners are considering an audacious ‘player-plus-cash swap deal’ for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the upcoming January transfer window.

Despite their recent success on the pitch, concerns linger over Arsenal’s lack of a clinical striker, with manager Mikel Arteta frequently relying on Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, both of whom have been criticized for squandering goal-scoring opportunities.

Widespread speculation is circulating, suggesting that Arsenal is actively considering Napoli’s Victor Osimhen as a potential solution to their striking concerns. The Nigerian striker, with just under two years remaining on his current contract, could be open to a move, especially in light of recent reports of discontent sparked by ‘unacceptable’ TikTok videos featuring Osimhen, which were posted by Napoli.

However, the pursuit of Osimhen may not be straightforward, as Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, appears resolute in demanding a fee not below £150 million, as reported by the Italian outlet Il Mattino. In response to this substantial valuation, Arsenal is reportedly exploring the intriguing avenue of a player-plus-cash swap deal, with Gabriel Jesus emerging as a potential key component in the negotiations.

Football Italia has indicated that Napoli has identified Jesus as one of their top three targets to replace Osimhen if the Nigerian striker departs, thereby potentially opening the door for a significant swap deal in the upcoming January transfer window.

Despite Arsenal’s keen interest in Osimhen, there is now a new layer of competition from their London rivals, Chelsea. Reports suggest that Chelsea is planning a dual move for Osimhen and Brentford’s highly sought-after forward, Ivan Toney. While Arsenal has also expressed interest in Toney, the obstacle in their pursuit lies in Brentford’s substantial £80 million asking price for the talented striker.

As the January transfer window looms closer, the battle for striking talent intensifies, and Arsenal finds itself facing tough competition in its quest to fortify the attacking lineup. The intricate dynamics of potential player swaps, combined with the financial intricacies and competitive landscape, promise an intriguing narrative in the evolving football transfer saga.

This is what really happens if you leave your phone on during a flight

When we board a plane, it’s often a scramble to turn off our phones’ Wi-Fi for ‘safety reasons,’ but what’s the real issue?

Flying comes with well-known safety protocols: seatbelt on, no standing during takeoff and landing. But why the rush to power down our devices?

EasyJet pilot Chris Foster shed light on the importance of ‘airplane mode,’ calling the rule outdated. He explained, “Modern aircraft control systems wouldn’t be affected.”

He emphasized that regulations stem from a pre-iPad era and are gradually relaxing. “You can now use devices in flight safety mode,” he added.

There are reasons airlines ask for phones to be turned off. The Civil Aviation Authority noted that some carriers allow device use but only after safety tests ensure no interference.

Before you zone out on your next flight, note that policies vary by airline. Passengers are always briefed by cabin crew on device usage.

Turning off phones isn’t just about safety; it’s also to prevent cell tower overload, especially at low altitudes. In the US, passengers can face fines for failing to comply.
