Frankly speaking, the perspective from the northern region is that Tinubu is underestimating us, according to Prof. Yusuf.

In a recent interview with AIT during the Focus program, Professor Usman Yusuf, the Former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, expressed his candid observations regarding the perception of President Bola Tinubu in the northern region. He emphasized that the prevailing sentiment among northerners is that they perceive President Tinubu as taking their concerns for granted.

During the interview, Prof. Yusuf shared his thoughts on the Niger coup, and a follow-up question arose concerning President Tinubu’s role not just as the leader of northern Nigeria, but as the President of the entire nation. The concept of overriding national interest was brought into consideration. Addressing this, Prof. Yusuf reminded that he and his fellow northern counterparts, including religious leaders, lawmakers, traditional rulers, and the general populace, have firmly expressed their opposition to the idea of war in Niger. He stressed the close relationship between Nigerians and their neighboring Nigeriens, rooted in enduring ties of kinship, intermarriage, and cultural exchange.

Nonetheless, Prof. Yusuf pointed out that the impression prevailing in the north is that President Tinubu has not effectively communicated with the Nigerian populace. He highlighted that the public’s perception has largely been shaped by the visuals of Tinubu and his advisors participating in a conference meeting with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). This, according to him, has overshadowed any direct engagement with the Nigerian people, including security advisors and service chiefs. Prof. Yusuf criticized the lack of direct interaction, noting that President Tinubu had not engaged with any entity beyond the Senate, to which he submitted a request for permission to engage in military action.

In a poignant conclusion, Prof. Yusuf articulated a sentiment of deep concern and discontent from the northern perspective. He bluntly expressed that the prevailing sentiment is one of perceived disregard and contempt for the people. The perceived lack of direct engagement with the citizens on such a critical matter was seen as an affront to the people’s dignity and their rightful involvement in national decisions. Prof. Yusuf’s candid analysis painted a picture of frustration among northerners, reflecting their desire for effective communication and respectful consideration from their leaders.

In yet another heartwarming gesture, Peller has once again proven that his generosity knows no bounds. A young beggar, who had been following Peller for almost a week, finally found the opportunity to share his struggles. The boy, an orphan, broke down in tears as he pleaded for help, explaining how difficult life had been since his father passed away.

Earlier today, the young man waited outside Peller’s estate, hoping to catch a glimpse of the philanthropist. When Peller finally came out, the boy wasted no time in sharing his heartbreaking story. Without hesitation, Peller responded by gifting him ₦200,000 to help ease his burdens.

His generosity continues to touch the lives of many, and it’s no surprise that people often speak of him with admiration and gratitude. “You see Peller? He will never lack, he helps almost everyone that comes his way. May God keep blessing him,” fans say.

Moral Lesson: While it’s important to be a giver, it’s equally important to know your limits. The streets can sometimes take advantage of those with big hearts, and as much as helping others is a noble cause, it’s essential to strike a balance. Always remember: give wisely, because “the street no get memory.”
